It’s a Scary Thought

Posted by AlienCG on October 19, 2008

Here we are again for another exciting edition of Planet Flashback.  I have to catch a flight on Monday so I decided to repost this little gem from last year.  I stand by my commentary to this very day.

I Think I’ll Drive
Home

If I witnessed this at an American airport I think I would rent a car and drive home. I hope word of this doesn’t get out or else my days as a repair technician are numbered.

Goats sacrificed for smooth flyingPublished: Sept. 5, 2007 at 6:49 PM
KATHMANDU, Nepal, Sept. 5 (UPI) — Officials at Nepal’s troubled national airline said they recently sacrificed two goats to the Hindu god of sky protection to avoid mid-air glitches.  The carrier was forced to suspend international flights for 10 days in August because its two planes were grounded due to technical problems, News.co.au reported Wednesday.

“The goats were offered to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu god of sky protection, whose symbol is printed on all of our aircraft,” said airline spokesman Raju Bahadur.

The goats were beheaded with a khukuri, a traditional curved knife, in front of an airplane that was supposed to be operational, until technical issues forced two take-offs from Kathmandu to be aborted.  Airline officials said after the goat sacrifice, the aircraft had a successful — and uneventful — flight to Hong Kong, the Australian news outlet reported.

Of course, I could start a new online business. I could sell livestock for technical sacrifices. I’ll make millions!

I was surprised to find out that not too many Americans want to participate in this practice.  Maybe we could get a few goats and a sheep and head on down to Wall Street.  That could improve the economy.
